FAQs

How Does a Dual Pricing Program Work?

A Dual Pricing Program is a way for merchants to alleviate the costs associated to merchant processing. It is a method of implementing a cash and card price giving the customer to option to save with cash. The difference between the cash and card price is then used to cover the interchange fees implemented by card brands in lieu of paying monthly processing fees.

Is Dual Pricing Legal?

Each state has their own laws when it comes to Dual Pricing Programs. It is important to remember Nix’s Dual Pricing program is NOT a fee passed to the card paying consumer. It is a savings for customers who choose to pay with cash.

Can I Run the Program on My Own?

Running a Dual Pricing program requires many moving parts when it comes to the compliancy of the processor, card brands, and point-of-sale system. Card Brands are VERY upfront about the risks of running a non-compliant program. Therefore, it is important to use a processor and point-of-sale system that understands and meets the requirements implemented by the card brands to drastically limit the risk of fines.
